Writing
the College Essay & Applications
The application essay is your only opportunity to show college admission
officials the true you. In this course, we will perfect your application essay.
We’ll focus on making it accurately reflect your strengths and successes. To
ensure that your application stands apart from (and above) the masses, you’ll
learn how to write a creative, one-of-a-kind essay. Additionally, we’ll explore
the admission process and what you can do to enhance your chance for acceptance
into the college of your choice. Who should take this course? Anyone hoping for admittance to a UC, Ivy
League school, or other competitive private university must take this
course!
Note, this series of six one-hour
classes will be offered twice.
Getting
In! -- What It Takes to Get Accepted Into a Competitive College (A Course for
9th and 10th Graders)
Want to go to Cal? UCLA? What
about a competitive private such as Stanford or USC? What does it take? One
thing is for sure, you CAN'T WAIT until you're a junior or senior in high school
to start planning for it! You've got to start making the right choices right
now! This fall, get it all together before it's too late. We'll examine
specific admission requirements and what you can do to increase the odds of
getting into your dream school. Guest speakers - students who got in - will
share their wisdom. Students will develop and leave the course with a plan for
"Getting In!"
