Fall Session - Math |
Pre-Algebra Tutorial
Pre-Algebra
is the young math student's first introduction to high-level concepts, and thus
can be quite perplexing. Learned soundly, the elements of Pre Algebra build a
solid foundation for the future courses in the junior high and high school
curriculum. This tutorial places focus on helping the student achieve
comfortability and efficiency in handling even the most difficult problems of
Pre Algebra. By the end of the semester will be far more prepared to take on
challenges to come in the three years of algebra courses that follow.
Algebra II / Trig Regular Tutorial
The
instructor will teach seminar style, often clarifying weekly concepts being
studied in Algebra II/Trigonometry Regular. Question/Answer and some
individualized help are part of this class, as well as math short cuts, problem
solving skills, homework help, and test strategies. During the session, the
instructor will cover the following topics: solving equations, functions,
polynomials, rational expressions, quadratic functions and complex numbers.
Geometry
Regular Tutorial
This class
will discuss the definitions, undefined terms, postulates and theorems of
Euclidean Geometry. We will use the framework of Geometry to reinforce algebra
skills using labeled diagrams and word problems. Students will be introduced to
proofs by studying formal logic and proving the properties of Algebra. This
tutorial will be great support for students taking Geometry concurrently at
school and should contribute to higher quiz scores and grades.

Pre-Calculus
Honors Tutorial
Pre-Calculus is arguably the
most difficult course in mathematics that a
high school student endures, because it is a transition from simple problem
solving (algebra) to more abstract, theoretical mathematics (calculus). The key
to easing this transition is knowledge of shortcuts, good form in working out
problems, and
attention
to the right details. This tutorial is designed to emphasize these fundamental
parts of the Pre-Calculus curriculum. In effect, the student will not only be
able to polish his or her homework more efficiently, but will also significantly
improve performance in both the course, and the Calculus courses to follow.
