SAT I Verbal Preparation Part 2 (Grammar /
Writing)
This course
is designed to prepare students to take the SAT I Verbal test, a comprehensive
multiple choice and writing exam. Areas of verbal acuity included in the SAT I
Verbal are sentence completion, critical reading, Standard English grammar, and
a 25 minute essay. Part 2 of the course will provide expert instruction in
Standard English grammar and the writing of a 25-minute essay. Included in the
grammar review will be subject/verb agreement, pronoun case and reference,
pronoun/antecedent agreement, diction, parallelism, modification, coordination,
subordination, illogical comparisons, verb forms and tense, punctuation and
double negatives. The instructors will lecture in grammar and writing
instruction. The students will write at least 15-20 essays, which will be scored
by the teacher. Both teachers have been successfully guiding students to very
high scores. Many of our students have scored perfect 800’s in this section and
we expect that the SAT I Verbal scores will be enhanced by the addition of
grammar/writing to the total SAT I score.
