According to their web site, it is a "philanthropic initiative designed to draw on the resources of The Walt Disney Company to foster creative, innovative teaching strategies and practices." Their goal "is to support teachers, schools and parents in their efforts to effectively engage children in learning. This initiative also seeks to stimulate public dialogue on the need for creative, engaging approaches to learning that will enable all children to succeed in the 21st century."

Mrs. Katherine Johnson was one of the 33 finalists in the 2000 Disney "Teacher of the Year" Award. She teaches SAT I Verbal Prep classes at MCA. You can read about her teaching accomplishments at the featuring page on the Disney American Teacher Award site.
