Johnson, SAT Verbal I)

classes." -C.D (Mr. Richards, English Writing 7/8)
Mr. Richey "I would recommend this class
to my friends because I felt that this course allowed me to gain more
practice with writing the way that high schools prefer you to write. For me,
it felt as though I was given a ‘second chance’ to give essays a shot;
instead of being limited to what I was assigned to do in school, I could
take similar concepts and stories that I was applying and using in school
and apply them to my writing here. The teachers helped me understand
concepts we learned in school that I didn’t quite grasp, and they also
taught us new skills to use in our writing to make it better." -Anonymous (Mr. Richey,
English 9) "I
have learned so much! I am able to understand literature much easier. My

class, and the teachers were funny and interesting. It has helped me in
school, and the homework was really light and manageable. I learned how to
go beyond the ‘what’ and more to the ‘how’ and ‘why’. I think this was a
beneficial class for me, and it should help others too." -Anonymous (Mr. Richey
and Mrs. Sabraw, Literary Analysis 9-12) "The Literary Analysis class
expanded my understanding of both short stories and poems. The skills
this class taught me help in not only English classes but History as well." -N.S (Mrs. Sabraw and Mr.
Richey, Literary Analysis)
Mrs. Richey
"I would recommend the writing
class at Mill Creek Academy for several reasons. First, the teacher, Mrs.
Richey, is very good at explaining the subjects we worked on. Second, we got to
experience the kind of homework we will be getting in high school and be more
prepared. Third, the essays we worked on increased our own skills and helped us
to get better grades at school. The work may be challenging, but if you want to
improve your grades and writing skills, Mill Creek Academy is the place to go."
– E.L (Mrs. Richey, Writing 7/8)
"This class really helped to
improve my English and I learned the skill of annotating when I read a book.
When I started the class, I was worried about the essay I would have to write.
I challenged myself and was excited to find that I read both books and did well
on my essay. Mrs. Richey was very helpful and made learning fun. If you take
this class at Mill Creek Academy you will find that your skills really improve,
and notice that your grades at school are much higher." – R.J. (Mrs. Richey,
Writing 7/8)
"The SAT Verbal class was great!
I had the opportunity to learn everything I needed to know about the writing
section on the SAT 1. I learned grammar, sentence and paragraph improvement. I
also received a lot of advice on my 25-minute essay, which helped to improve my
skills and write a stronger final essay. Mrs. Richey was very helpful and
informative with her comments and scoring." – Chelsea (Mrs. Richey, SAT Verbal
Pt. 2)
"At the beginning of my SAT Verbal
Part 2 class at Mill Creek Academy, I did not understand or like grammar. By
the end of the course, Mrs. Richey helped me gain much more confidence, just as
she promised! This class teaches you lessons that you do not learn in school."
– Anonymous, (Mrs. Richey, SAT Verbal Part 2)
"The writing skills that I learned
in my SAT writing class not only made me feel more confident in writing my essay
for the SAT, they also made me feel more confident in writing any essay for any
class in school!" - Jill (Mrs. Richey, SAT Verbal Part 2)
Mrs. Sabraw "Mill Creek Academy has
experienced, humorous, and kind instructors. They teach students vocabulary
words how to write persuasive and response to literature, sentence variety,
and many other things, all in a fun way!" -J. Qian (Mrs. Sabraw, Writing 4) "The teacher [Mrs. Sabraw] is
very dedicated to the subject she teaches, and I have improved my score more
than 200 points from just one hour a class, one class a week in a
three-month period." -Anonymous (Mrs. Sabraw, SAT I Grammar and Writing) "This class is filled with
new, fresh grammar for students and preparation tests for the difficult
writing SAT test. It is extremely helpful for those eager to achieve well on
the SAT." -P.K. (Mrs. Sabraw, SAT I Grammar and Writing) "My test score was way better. Like, way. It improved from a
400 to a 750." -E. Pong (Mrs. Sabraw, SAT I Grammar and Writing) "This class definitely offered
additional insight into the subject areas of grammar and writing. If
you have great grammar to begin with, the class helps you fine tune your
ideas through several 25 minute essays that the teacher grades and hands
back with comments. If you write great essays, then this class helps
you develop your grammar and standard usage of English to use on the SAT II
and for the rest of your life. It’s a win-win situation!" -S.C (Mrs. Sabraw, SAT I Verbal Part II) "Jason’s writing improved
significantly over the past 3-4 months. His writing assessment results
from school has shown noticeable changes. More importantly, he
believes now that he can be, and is a great writer." -Mrs. L. (Mrs. Sabraw, English Writing 4)
