Ms. Maureen Chen

Ms. Maureen Chen is grateful to be a part of the faculty at Mill Creek
Academy. She began her career teaching English and social studies at the
middle and high school levels in Alameda, San Jose, and East Palo Alto.
Later on, she directed the Kidzone and the community service program at
Great Exchange Covenant Church.
Ms. Maureen Chen graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with
a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She continued her studies at Stanford
University (though she still pledges allegiance to Cal) and earned both a Master
of Arts degree in Education and a Single Subject Credential in English with a
CLAD (Cross-cultural, Language, and Academic Development) emphasis.
Whether it has been in the classroom or directing programs, Ms. Chen is
passionate, inspiring, and skilled in adjusting her curriculum and teaching
style to address the various needs of her students. Her goal is to create a safe
environment for her students to thrive in, and she is committed to making her
classes creative and challenging. Ms. Chen believes in building a classroom that
is relational, academic, and fun.
As a Bay Area native, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband
and baby, dining with family and friends, sampling desserts, and walking her
dog.
