Ms.
Pallavi Somusetty was born and raised in the East Bay, and has fond memories of
her years at Mission San Jose High School. She has always been fascinated with
the written word. She earned a Bachelors degree in Literature and a minor in
Journalism at the University of California, Santa Cruz. In college she served as
a reporter and editor for the campus newspaper, and tutored incoming freshman in
college level writing. In 2002, Ms. Somusetty was awarded the Susie Pfingstel
Memorial Scholarship for her work on a fictional novel.
Upon
graduation, she worked as a journalist for a South Bay newspaper and she
currently works in advertising. With a special interest in working with youth,
Ms. Somusetty plans to teach English abroad in the coming years. She is excited
to be working with students in the area and giving back to the community that
played such a prominent role in her educational growth. In her free time, she
enjoys writing, filmmaking, skiing, yoga and hiking.
